Valentine's day… You see I love love, but I hate being told when and how I should express it. Also, I have been single for a long time now. Years in fact, and it is by design for the most part, but then V-day comes along and I start to second guess my life choices. Just for a fleeting moment. Not because my married friends are blissfully floating thru life (relationships are hard…), more because dating is work. And something about me attracts 22-year-old boys and a constant stream of penis photos.
Also… I broke my right-hand pointer finger, in an elegant duel with a glass door, which makes Tinder swiping cumbersome. These are the sacrifices I am making, all in the pursuit of love? Or at least hot sex. I would be satisfied with hot sex. I think I just solved for myself why the 22-year-old boys are attracted to me. Dang it. Thanks for being here with me for this realization.
My broken finger is also making typing more difficult. I slammed it in a door two weeks ago, but the last few days I have been wandering around without the splint on. I don't like wearing it, everyone asks what happened, and it's an anticlimactic story. I mean, “I slammed it in a door” isn't sexy. Today the X-ray tech (who usually won't tell you anything) suggested I get a splint on my very broken finger. Yeah, shit, so I didn't miraculously heal like Wolverine or Deadpool. Have you seen Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman's public rivalry? I love the two of them in action taunting each other in good fun.
So while I had lofty plans to talk about a program I listened to about Emotional Labour, or tell you more about things going on with me, the typing is slow going… plus you are probably just here for this rich dark and delicious Banana Split Brownie. I know I had myself at “rich, dark, and delicious.” I'll take two please.
It is for the best I find myself single again this year. It free's me up to eat Banana Split Brownie from the pan, in bed, and no one can complain about crumbs!
