Lebanese Cauliflower Rice with Pomegranate is a colorful, cauliflower jeweled rice recipe with nuts, seeds & pomegranate. And random questions: Can dogs have pomegranate? Can dogs eat pizza? I know: seems like weird things to ask.
You may or may not know that Holley and I looooove Middle Eastern cuisine. We've been playing with sumac spice recently, and I made braised lamb shanks (first recipe made from Shawn Curry – recipe coming soon), which needed some form of rice to help soak up the gravy goodness.
Can Dogs Eat Pomegranate?
Don't hate me for this… I'm not a dog person. For anyone who knows me very well, you'll know that I'm actually part cat.
I don't know about how to dog. I never feed dogs my food. So I was surprised when I was doing some keyword research for this recipe and saw that a lot of people are asking Google can dogs have pomegranate?
I thought it was weird that this was a burning question for so many people. They also want to know, can dogs eat black olives? I presume that what they really want to know is, can dogs eat pizza?
It turns out that whether or not dogs should not eat pomegranates is “heavily debated”!
Who is having these heated debates? I couldn't tell you.
But from what I can see, you shouldn't feed pomegranate seeds to your dog. Sorry Rover, Jeweled Rice isn't for you.
Little Things explains that dogs have not evolved to eat a fruit-based diet. Nor are they well suited for digesting seeds. Both are likely to cause stomach upset, and who knows what mess will come with that. Or what end it will come out of….
Cauliflower Jeweled Rice
I love the bursts of flavor in this beautiful dish. I could see just melting some butter over a bowl of this and enjoying it on its own.
Go enjoy some Cauliflower Rice with Pomegranate – and keep it away from your dog.
