Fill Your Cup / Connect with Your Tribe (& Us!) at Paleo f(x) 2019
Connecting with your tribe of like-minded people is incredibly important. Join us next April: Fill Your Cup / Connect with Your Tribe (& Us!) at Paleo f(x) 2019!
Blue Zones and Connection
The benefit of being in a room full of like-minded people cannot be overstated. It’s no secret that human connection is an important part of ideal ancestral health. You've heard of Blue Zones, right? They are areas of the world where people live longer, healthier lives. There are some commonalities observed from each of these regions, including the need to connect with strong social networks.
At the beginning of 2018, Holley & I both identified a need to increase connection/community in our lives. More dating, finding more local connections and friends, professional collaborations, health- and nutrition-related communities, etc.
Using Conferences to Fill Your Cup – The Benefit of Like-Minded People
We began the year by attending ShiftCon. We truly benefitted from being surrounded by so many people who are also passionate about promoting green-living and holistic health (environmental, social, and personal health). It opened our own eyes to some issues and threats to our health, other than processed foods that are so abundant in our society.
This experience and group re-energized us and encouraged us to add more value to The Primal Desire than solely focusing on fun delicious paleo recipes. We were overwhelmed with information that we wanted to help share with the masses.
Educated. Energized. Excited.
Plus we met a whack of really amazing people in the same blogging realm.
Our cups were overflowing.
This summer we attended another conference, the Masters of the Universe (MOTU) Summit by Mark Groves. This was a congregation of people interested in self-growth, improved connections, and better relationships. Again, to be surrounded by all these passionate loving people was just an incredible experience. More connections, inspiration, ideas, and growth.
WHY have I not done more of this kind of thing in the past?!
We’ve attended multiple other events this summer, surrounding ourselves with people who are fun, who are doing incredible things and are caring. All of these connections and experiences have further energized us.
Most recently, I went to the Ancestral Health Symposium (AHS) which was a natural fit for The Primal Desire and our food/health philosophy. There was a lot of scientific studies that were presented and some experts in the field. I got to meet (and interview) Darryl Edwards from Primal Play.
And I met Keith and Michelle Norris, the founders of Paleo f(x)! Did you know that they had the idea to start Paleo f(x) after attending AHS years ago? Check out this interview with Keith Norris:
We Will Be Attending Paleo f(x) 2019
Paleo f(x) has been something we’ve wanted to go to since we first started The Primal Desire. Unfortunately, getting there from our little corner of Canada is pretty pricey. But after meeting Keith and Michelle, I decided we needed to finally get there.
You should come too!
Why? Paleo f(x) is built around the experts and big names in paleo and you can learn about all the cutting edge information (science, products, practices, etc.). There are talks and discussions with big names like Michelle Tam, Dallas Hartwig (who I got to speak with at the MOTU Summit), and Darryl Edwards. Actually, speakers who are confirmed for Paleo f(x) 2019 so far include Robb Wolf, JJ Virgin, Mark Sisson, Dr. Joseph Mercola, Dr. Sarah Ballantyne, Chris Kresser, Dianna Rodgers, Kristin Comella, and Nora Gedgaudas (who I also met at AHS).
Want to read about other peoples' experiences at Paleo f(x)? Real Food with Dana, Christina Rice Wellness, and Our Paleo Life (did you know we did some guest posts on their site?) have shared their Paleo f(x) trip stories about food, people, lectures, Austin, and more.
So… are you gonna join us in Austin, Texas next April? You can buy your passes now. Use code “HEAT10” to give them an additional 10% off.
Connecting More People to the Paleo Community
I have a question for you. How do we connect more people to the paleo community? How can we expose the populations who could most use the help to this information?
This is a concern that has been raised multiple times in the past. Holley and I are very aware that there are far too many people out there who believe that eating a real food/ancestral/paleo-based diet has to be more expensive than fast food. I can tell you that I would spend far more on food if I ate shitty fast food instead of cooking at home.
I've been contemplating solutions since I was at AHS. So far I just have a jumble of ideas like having Paleo f(x) spear-heading programs in schools or communities in underprivileged areas. Inviting community leaders to attend Paleo f(x) events. Using Paleo f(x) connections and reach to support community programs.
This isn't my area of expertise at all, which is why I'm asking you. Man. If we could get everyone to shift away from GMO wheat, corn, and soy it would change everything. Plus then maybe the government would start subsidizing other farming, making healthy options even more affordable. Win, win, win, win….
I would love to dig deeper into this. There is some really great info here.
I have been curious about paleo dieting too. I have a friend who follows it strictly.
Sounds like both of you would benefit from joining us in April!
This is a really great program too! I really hope more come to the paleo community through this.
Have you been to Paleo F(x) Cindy?
