I was in a long relationship The better part of my 20's (maybe not the best part of my 20's, but most of it?) were spent playing “marriage” with a man who LOVED sports. Loved. Loved loved. Loved maybe even more than he loved me. Like now, I'm long gone, but he is probably still all about the sports. He is. I know he is because we are still friends.
But the point of this story wasn't to tell you some sorry story about my Ex; it was to tell you that I am the QUEEN of game-day food. That's right. The girl who forgets to add salt to her food on a regular basis, and has been known to have salty snacks like chips go stale in her cupboard (pre-paleo of course) can fry, roast, pull and dip the heck out of game-day food.
When we were together, vacations always included some sporting event, so I have experienced some pretty great events all over North America. When we were home, Sundays were “our day”. An early morning to watch the pre-game show, we would go do our own thing for a few hours and then come home to watch the afternoon games and nap. It meant nachos, ribs, veggies and dip, and of course… HOT WINGS.
He was not lucky enough to be around for this paleo Peach Chili Chicken Wings, but it is by far my new favorite wing flavor. Our strawberry chipotle coming in a close second. Both great with Nom Nom's amazing ranch dip, (available only in their book, but so worth the investment!) Hard to admit but theirs is better than ours (ours is great too).
This weekend I'll be hanging around on Sunday and I'll watch a little Grey Cup football action, Canada's football league championship. The rules are a little different, one less down and a little bigger field (and bigger balls says Raj, is that true?) being the biggest differences. Do you care? There is a link if you want to know CFL vs NFL. But whatever brand of football you watch this Sunday the snacks will be the same: Peach Chili Chicken Wings!
