Kequyen Lam

Kequyen and I met in Vancouver at UBC while training to become pharmacists.  We have some of the best conversations and always end up talking for hours when we get on the phone.  One of the reasons I love this guy is his amazing man-giggle!

He is competing in the 2018 Winter Olympics in the cross-country skiing event: 15km Skate Ski.  This is a shift in sports for him as previously he was a snowboard cross athlete, but his Olympic dreams of heading down the hill sideways on a board were cut short due to an injury before he was able to qualify for the 2010 Olympics in his hometown of Vancouver.  Two major inspirations include former Olympians Ross Rebagliati and Danny Silva.

He will be competing for Portugal, but I'll cheer for him anyway….

Lamstache, Tiny Home Haiku, etc.

To maintain this bad boy, Kequyen is making his own brand of mustache wax, “Lamstache”, which you will be able to pre-order on www.kequyenlam.com very soon.

Kequyen is also releasing a couple books:  one with poetry created when he lived in the “tiny home” he built, “Tiny Home Haikus”.  The other book, “Into the Mind of an Olympic Athlete”, gives readers an inside look into the experience of being at the starting line of an Olympic event.  These will also be available from his site soon.

I got Kequyen into Instant Pots and his use of bone broth and traditional real foods have been important to fueling his training and improving his health.  He shared with us his “Lam Broth” Instant Pot Olympic Pork Soup.

Kequyen will be sharing his journey in the South Korea 2018 Olympics on Instagram, and he also has a Facebook athlete page.  (You may find him under “Lam Ke Quyen” if you're Google-stalking him.)

Good luck, Kequyen!

I've noticed that nobody has commented about the topless photo of this specimen of a man.
Thankfully my roommates don't have photos of me staring at the screen editing that photo while also shirtless.

That woulda been weird.
